Best Processor

We talked about the fastest computer processor in other article, but we also discussed how the price performance ratio is varying among the AMD and Intel today, let’s see in details what is this price performance ratio.
Price Performance Ratio: The price we pay for anything and the performance we get from the same thing is very different in nature. Suppose you own a 1000 $ Car and it gives you a 2 KMPL mileage and your friend owns a 500 $ Car and it gives her 1.5 KMPL mileage for 500 KM, which one will be better? We can’t decide it because the class is different. Same is true for the processors. We can find a 1000+ $ Core I7 and we can find a <100 Athlon 2 X4 processor. Core I 7 is good the best one, but for a small application you are getting same performance as well as at 900 $ less. Simply we can’t compare both. We need to decide the categories to decide the same. Let’s derive some categories on the price factor.
Sub 100 $ Category: In this category we have many candidates from AMD and Intel. We have some Core 2 Duos; we have some Phenom 2 and Athlon 2 X4 and Athlon 2 X3. All are great processors. They are fast, they are multi core and they are worth the money but which is the fastest processor here? Here we have a clear winner as AMD Athlon 2 X4 and X3. We are seeing the multi core factor here as well as the clock speed. X4 has more cores while X3 has better clock speed. Another choice here can be Phenom 2 X2 which is a black edition processor means unlocked multiplier=free over clocking. We will discuss about over clocking in some other article soon.
100-150 $ category: Here we have Core I3 and Phenom 2 X3 and Athlon 2 X4 processors. Core I 3 is very good processor have great over-clock ability but comes with only 2 Cores. While X4 have 4 cores but less clock speed. We have winner here as X3 as it is a unlocked multiplier with higher clock speed.
150-300 $ category: Intel starts showing its magic here. AMD have Phenom 2 x4, Intel have high speed I3’s and Core I5 Processors. I5 are extremely fast and better performer than Phenom 2 X4 processors. Only the top Phenom 2 X4 is a worthy candidate here. Core I5 wins the battle here.
300 + $ category: Intel Rules here. AMD can’t beat Intel Core I7 range in this category, battle over.
We have discussed about many Best Performers here. We are waiting for Hexa-Core processors from both AMD and Intel to check out where they fit in this scenario.
